IT support for law firms
IT support for law firms — see whether your fee earners can pay for it.
Fee earners lose hours a week to research, drafting and admin — often more than the whole firm's IT budget. Put your own charge-out rate and realisation into the calculator below and see whether the time you recover covers what you spend on IT. Nothing gated, nothing emailed to you.

The problem nobody's costed
Firms this size haven't been slow to try AI — most have already started. Among US firms of 20–199 employees, 44% are already using general-purpose AI tools day to day, and for firms that size the single biggest barrier isn't a lack of time to explore AI — it's integrating tools into how the firm already works, which is a bigger barrier for firms this size than for smaller ones. The problem isn't adoption. It's that nothing joins up, and nothing governs it.
That gap is commercial, not just operational. Among the same 20–199 group, only 39% saw AI make a positive difference to revenue — and 51% hadn't changed their pricing at all since adopting it. Buying the licence is the easy part. Recovered time only becomes revenue if the firm fills the extra capacity and prices for it, and that's consistently the part firms aren't doing. It's why our offer is built the way it is: the hours released are the part we can measure and guarantee. Converting them into revenue is the work — yours to do, ours to help with.
The sharper risk sits underneath that: the same 44% of firms already routing work through general-purpose AI tools are doing so with no legal-specific safeguards, and 30% have no AI usage policy at all governing any of it. Generic tools lack legal context and create a confidentiality risk the moment client data goes into a public platform — a risk regulators are starting to act on: California has legislated against entering confidential client information into public generative AI tools. That's a US state, not UK law, but it's a clear signal of where scrutiny is heading. In the UK, the exposure sits with the SRA Standards and Regulations, the SRA Code of Conduct and UK GDPR, plus a professional indemnity disclosure question your insurer will eventually ask.
Blocking AI outright doesn't close that gap — fee earners already have access to it, on their own terms. Deploying it properly does.

What we do differently
Layering legal AI onto weak access control increases your exposure rather than reducing it — that's the failure mode we see most. Done properly, secure legal AI deployment is one of the fastest ways to move a firm's Technology Resilience Score™ forward, not backward.
In our assessments, we typically see law firms sitting below 3.0 on access control and data governance — the same gap that shadow AI use exploits. Fixing that isn't just a compliance exercise: it's what turns "we use AI" into a defensible position with your insurer, your clients and the SRA. We don't switch Clio Work on and leave the rest of your environment as it was — we assess where you sit today on the same Technology Resilience Score™ scale we use for every client, and build the deployment around closing the specific gaps that score exposes.
Clio Work, deployed properly
Little Big Tech is a Clio channel partner. You license and pay Clio directly for Clio Work; we own the secure deployment and the ongoing relationship, and LBT may receive a commission for the referral. We're telling you that plainly because we'd rather you knew it upfront than found it in the small print.
What Clio brings.Clio Work runs on Clio Library — over a billion legal documents and verified case law across 100+ jurisdictions — and Cert, Clio's own citator, confirms whether a cited authority is still good law. It's built to SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 standards, with UK GDPR-aligned data handling, and Clio doesn't train its models on your client data. Clio migrates your firm's data and trains your team as part of the subscription — that's their job, not ours.
What we bring. The environment Clio Work lands in: identity and access control, conditional access, data governance and audit logging, set up so the AI can't reach further than it should. Microsoft 365 integration. Workflow automation, intake process design and document automation built around how your firm actually works. Custom reporting and business analytics. And ongoing management, health checks and Technology Resilience Score™ reassessment, so the deployment doesn't quietly drift once it's live.
Built for how UK firms actually work: family, employment, civil litigation, private client — wills, probate and estate administration — conveyancing and residential property, immigration, and commercial and corporate. Conveyancing and private client work is largely fixed-fee in the UK, which is why the calculator below has a fixed-fee mode: recovered time there converts into capacity for more matters, not extra billable hours.
That direction of travel matches where client demand already is. Hourly-exclusive billing has been in steady decline industry-wide since 2019, and 71% of clients now say they prefer fixed or flat fees (Clio's 2024 Legal Trends Report) — firms moving that way aren't just protecting margin, they're giving clients what they already want. Yet 51% of firms LBT's size (20–199 employees) made no pricing change at all when they adopted AI, which is exactly the gap between recovering time and turning it into revenue.

Where this starts
Every engagement starts with your free Technology Resilience Score™ assessment. It establishes your baseline, surfaces what's already exposed — whether or not you go anywhere near Clio Work — and gives us the number this whole page is measured against. If the calculator says your fee earners' recovered time can cover your IT, the assessment is what tells you exactly where that IT needs to be strongest first.

Are we too small for this?
No — the calculator scales down to whatever seat count you enter, and our managed service has a floor of 10 seats. If you're below that, we cost the calculator at 10 anyway, so you can see exactly what you'd be carrying and when you'd grow into it.
What if the time savings don't materialise?
We guarantee the hours, not the revenue. Before we start, we agree a baseline with you and a target for the fee-earner hours you'll release, and measure it every quarter. If the agreed hours haven't been released — and you've done your part of the adoption programme — we keep funding for up to twelve more months. Converting released hours into revenue depends on your own pricing and pipeline, which is why the assessment and the ongoing relationship matter as much as the contribution itself.
Do we have to move off our current practice management system?
No. Clio Work is available with or without Clio Manage, confirmed on Clio's UK pricing page — you can adopt legal AI without touching your existing practice management platform, and connect Clio Manage later if you choose.
Is our client data safe in an AI tool?
Clio Work is built to SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 standards, with UK GDPR-aligned data handling, and Clio doesn't train its models on your client data. The bigger risk we see isn't the AI tool itself — it's fee earners already using general-purpose AI with none of those controls. Our job is making sure the access control and data governance around whatever AI you use actually hold up, which is where most firms are exposed today.
How do we know the AI isn't making things up?
Clio Work is grounded in Clio Library — over a billion legal documents across 100+ jurisdictions, with verified judgments, legislation and regulatory material — and Cert, Clio's citator, confirms whether a cited authority remains good law. Every cited authority links back to its source, so you're verifying the AI's output against a citation rather than taking it on trust.
What does this cost?
Your IT and Microsoft 365 costs are shown in the calculator above, in full, before you enter any contact details. Clio Work's own pricing is set and quoted by Clio directly — we don't control it and it isn't ours to publish — so the fastest way to see your real number is to run the calculator and talk to us about the next step.
How quickly could we be up and running?
We start immediately on our side — the Technology Resilience Score™ assessment and secure deployment planning both begin as soon as you're ready. Clio's own onboarding runs through several stages on their side (strategy call, discovery, demo, a solution engineer, then a decision), and that timeline is set by Clio, not us. We'd rather tell you that plainly than promise a turnaround we don't control.
